A Note From the Director…

A Note from Denise Parton

Most people tend to giggle or roll their eyes when you mention Legally Blonde. They associate it with the color pink, a little dog riding in a purse, and a story that seems, at first glance, to be superficial.

Personally, I believe Legally Blonde is one of the most empowering stories we tell.

Why?

Because at its heart, it is a story about discovering your own power. It is about refusing to wear the labels others place on you and deciding for yourself who you are going to become.

Elle Woods begins her journey determined to prove her worth to Warner. But somewhere along the way, something remarkable happens. She stops pursuing someone else's approval and starts discovering her own strength. She learns that her value was never dependent on what anyone else thought of her.

And once she steps into that confidence, not for Warner, but for herself, she begins empowering the people around her as well.

Amid the "Omigods," the "Legally Blondes," and the bending and snapping, we discover some surprisingly powerful words:

"The day you broke my heart, you handed me the chance

To make a brand-new start.

You helped me find my way.

There's still so much to learn,

So many dreams to earn.

But even if I crash and burn ten thousand times a day,

I think I'm here to stay.

I'm going to find my way."

As a director, those words resonate deeply with me.

My hope for every camper who walks through our doors is that they discover their own strength, their own voice, and their own path. That they learn it is okay to fail, okay to grow, and okay to become something greater than they imagined.

And perhaps one day, they will be able to say:

"I'm standing here today because Inner Light Family Theatre helped me find my way."

Help Us Keep Theater Accessible for Every Child

At Inner Light Family Theatre, we believe the arts have the power to change lives.

Our program exists to give children and teens a place where they can grow in confidence, creativity, leadership, and belonging, regardless of their financial circumstances, experience level, or background. For many of our students, this stage becomes more than a performance space. It becomes a safe place to be seen, celebrated, and encouraged.

Because of that mission, we have made a commitment that no child is ever turned away due to financial hardship.

Today, more than 50% of our campers and performers participate through scholarships or tuition assistance. While we are incredibly proud of that, it also means we rely heavily on the generosity of our community to continue making these opportunities possible.

Your donation helps provide:

  • Camp and class scholarships for families in need

  • Costumes, sets, props, lighting, and sound

  • Scripts, music licensing, and production expenses

  • Safe, high-quality theatrical experiences for local children and teens

  • A place where young people can discover confidence, friendship, and their voice

Every gift, no matter the size, directly impacts a child’s ability to participate in the arts.

When you support Inner Light Family Theatre, you are not simply funding a show. You are investing in children. You are helping shy kids become confident, helping creative kids find community, and helping young people experience the joy of creating something beautiful together.

Thank you for believing in what we do and for helping us continue bringing accessible theater opportunities to families in our community.

Together, we can keep the spotlight open for every child.
